Andres Garchitorena is a Spanish veterinarian holding a European Masters in Public Health. Working at the French Institute for Development (IRD) and the French School of Public Health (EHESP), he completed a PhD in disease ecology in 2014 in Montpellier, France.  His research focuses on feedbacks between ecosystems, disease and poverty, with a specific focus on Neglected Tropical Diseases and field-based research projects in rural areas of Cameroon and Madagascar. As a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard Medical School (Department of Global Health and Social Medicine), Andres built a field research program in Madagascar with PIVOT.  He is now research faculty of IRD and is a senior research advisor to PIVOT in Madagascar.
